JCM just finished a special TWI Job Instruction Kaizen that featured both the TWI JI Training and application to reduce errors! This was done in a medical device production area where SOPs were being used for training and for process documentation purposes. This caused far too many information transations and chances for mistakes in both performing the job and in record keeping.
TWI Job Instruction greatly simplified the training and eliminated the need to use SOPs for that purpose. 40 JIBs (Job Instruction Breakdowns) were created and are being used to re-train and re-certify eveyone working in this area. The TWI Job Instruction definition certainly applied here: “Job Instruction is the way to get a person to quickly remember how to do a job correctly, safely, and conscientiously.”
The end result is a dramatic reduction in paperwork and in data entry. The company is very pleased and plans to extend TWI Training in other parts of the business.
