Visual Controls is a means of managing a value stream, or a cell, whereby everyone walking into the area (GEMBA) can understand the performance of that area in an instant. VC enables self-management of a cell or a value stream. VC replaces management by “remote control” (which has never worked that well anyway).
The 7 areas for Visual Controls are:
- Schedule and Delivery Controls
- Quality Controls
- Work Controls
- Facility Controls
- Equipment & Tooling Controls
- Performance Improvement Controls
- Material Flow Contols
Learning Objectives:
- Realize how familiar we are with Visual Controls using an example from our everyday lives
- Understand each of the 7 Types of VC using photos of each type from actual company examples
- Do a baseline audit of current level of VC using an Audit Checklist and plotting your results on a VC Radar Chart
- Learn about the 10 Steps to Implementing VC
- Applications exercises for each of the 7 Types of VC
- Appreciating the difference between traditional supervision & management and managing via VC using “A Day In The Life of a Supervisor” (from Toyota).
Who Should Attend:
- Leadership Team (Operation Managers & Supervisors)
- Staff (Managers, supervisors, engineers, and other individual contributors)
- Value Stream Team members
Duration: 1 day
